Featured Projects πŸŽ‰

Cloud services involve technical terms & systems that are extremely hard to grasp and understand. During my internship, I had the opportunity to deliver end-to-end designs for some 0-to-1 cloud service features and iterate previous web designs as well. Working on them all, making user experience non-technical friendly has been my focus.

Takeaways πŸ‘‘

Empathize with complex user habits across the world 🌍

Working at Tencent’s International Experience Design Team was a huge opportunity for me to grow and learn. As our products served users from different regions & cultures, speaking various languages, this exciting fact also placed greater caution & burden on every design decision I made. Either the multi-language adaptability of a visual element or the digital connectivity an interaction would require, should all be evaluated in different scenarios & behavioral patterns, let alone the overall online/offline customer experience. With these challenges, I found myself more agile and confident in dealing with complex situations and building designs with higher flexibility.

Stay humble, act agile, and be proactive 🎀

With novice knowledge of cloud service and technical terms, I took a lot of effort at the early stage of this internship to quickly grasp the product's landscape, as well as the complex information that I needed to deliver to users through design. I also encountered design solutions that I was not sure of the technical constraints and capacity.
I really appreciated how all the designers, PMs, and engineers helped me quickly familiarize myself with the work. I also benefited from speaking up about my questions and absorbing feedback & knowledge quickly. In addition, by coming up with ideas and wrapping them up in lo-fi designs quickly, I was able to set up meetings with stakeholders more proactively and test my design hypotheses.
